Fan Dancing for the Aeroly Soul

Fan dancing is a varied dance form spread throughout many different cultures. I've researched and learned Japanese fan dancing, so I'll be referring to such.

Fans are a traditional tool for the element of air. Regardless of your own personal element, having wings means you'll be working with the element of air a lot.

If you are a different element (based off of the astrological signs), then you may want to work with it as well. You can do this through specific colored clothing, burning candles (for fire), putting a small stone in your pocket (for earth), or a vial of water in your pocket (obviously water). Try making up your own ways of keeping close to your element to add a personal touch.

Japanese fans symbolize friendship and respect. It's in ancient Japanese belief that the handle symbolizes the beginning of life (the beginning of your wing growth), and the ribs are the roads of life going out in all directions (the growth and obstacles to gaining your wings).

For fan dancing, all you need is a fan (or two) that opens and closes easily and smoothly, yet stays open when in use.

Fan dancing is simple; the movements are slow and intentional. Many movements can be repeated and it doesn't matter in which direction you step or turn. You can even make up your own moves. Just choose a song that feels suitable for you and allow yourself to flow with the music. You can dance quickly or slowly, whatever works. But never consider the fan as a separate item, think of it as an extension of your hand. Allow yourself to relax into, and enjoy.

Energy Renewal

If you often cast spells or perform rituals for different goals, do you ever feel a loss of the sensation of your wings' energy? I know I do. I'm not the best multitask-er, and at my level of magickal strength multitasking energy is surely a challenge.

I try to simply focus all my spiritual energy on my wings' growth; however, it is selfish of me to not send good energy to an ill loved one, or a loved one taking a major test. There are also the situations where I could use a spell to help myself.

Although I haven't found any solutions, I have found ways to cope and quickly replenish energy. This constant cycle may put a stunt on wing growth though. I'm not sure, more research and experimenting should help.

~ Tips:

  • Before performing a spell, take an object and place your energy and desire for wings into it. While doing the spell, have the object attached to you. I tend to use a flower or ivy crown I made before-hand, or a flower. I fill them with the energy and make it so that they energy is sent back to me slowly as the plant withers in my hair (or pocket)

  • Return to nature. After experiencing a drainage of energy, no matter how insignificant, go outside. Dance in the rain, watch the clouds, lie down among trees as wind buffets them, walk in the sunlight. Let nature replenish what you have lost. Personally I find windy days and lighting storms to be quite energizing for me.

  • Practice using your energy on two things at once.

  • Keep trying! Continue to cast spells for your wings, send energy to them, and never give up no matter how hopeless circumstances make you think.

On Your Mark - Chage and Aska

I adore this video made by Miyazaki (all Studio Ghibli fans most likely know him). It is a promotional video made for Chage and Aska's song, On Your Mark. The song is beautiful and is truly inspirational. The video always gives me goosebumps.

My main goal for growing wings, is the freedom to venture further away from the restrains of society. This is what the video appears to display. To escape from people who lie and use others, and to be free in the sky. Also, her wings are lovely x) I never get sick of the video (/^_^)/

It was removed from YouTube, but I found it again:

I had to update the link, again. This video is fairly difficult to find and keep in one location xD

Morning Yoga

おはよう!

Not often do I have time time in the morning for yoga. I always rush, with having so many tasks at hand, mornings can be difficult to find time for yoga. However, even just doing so a few times a week, improves my flexibility and relieves stress.

When I lack stress, my mind, and body can focus more easily on the development of both my spiritual and physical wings.

Just listening to relaxing instrumental music and doing yoga with the rising sun increases my awareness and I feel helps prepare the body for the addition of wings. When the body goes through such changes, it is imperative to care for it.

  • Stay hydrated
Before and after doing yoga, be sure to drink plenty of water. Drinking water can also help with weight loss.

  • Beef up
Don't go overboard, but to build muscle and power your body, consume protein before. I eat oatmeal beforehand; and before the oatmeal is done cooking, I put a raw egg in and cook it until the outside is white, but the inside is runny.

  • Stretch
Just a warm-up. There isn't any solid proof that stretching before helps or doesn't. Personally, after stretching I feel more energized.

  • Relax
I am horribly guilty of rushing EVERYTHING. It is not good, even though I can complete tasks a bit quicker, I end up doing something wrong and throwing the entire process off course pushing me behind. Rushing attracts ungodly amounts of stress for me XD But just breath in slowly, through the nose and out the mouth. Allow the energy to flow gracefully through your body. I like imagining I already have my physical wings and how it would feel doing yoga with them.

  • Background Noise
Whether it is the sounds of the your surrounding environment, or an instrumental piece of music, it must be relaxing. The sounds can calm your nerves but boost the awareness of your senses. I personally enjoy Joe Hisaishi piano music (better known as music from Ghibli Studio movies). Otherwise I will do yoga outside and listen to the birds ^^

Night Meditation

안녕!

Every night I fall asleep listening to a soothing musical piece I found on YouTube. I find that this piece immediately immerses my thoughts into another state.

Lying straight out on my back, I envision myself with my wings in a natural setting. I also surround myself with a few angels to aid in my developing skills. I cling to their supporting hands and they guide me high above in the sky until I feel comfortable; then I release and soar solo. The wind rushing by, the scenery below, and blood rush, I embrace them all. I continue flying freely until I fall asleep.

From my experiences thus far, I find the nightly meditation increases my strength over my wings. The song is supposed to relieve stress and induce positive thoughts. This aids a lot in placing one's mind on the right track to wing growth. The song can be found here:
